Getting your tip on WiFi.

The tip talks to the app over Bluetooth just long enough to hand it a WiFi network to join — then everything else happens over that WiFi. There are three ways to give it a network. Pick the one that matches where you actually shoot.

Before any of the three: pair the tip

Every setup path starts the same way, from the app's Setup Wizard. This locks your phone and tip together over Bluetooth before any WiFi is ever discussed.

1

Open Setup Wizard from the Stabili-Track connection screen.

2

Tap Bluetooth — it's the only setup transport now (sending WiFi details over the tip's own open network was retired for a real security reason: an open setup network could let anyone nearby reconfigure your tip).

3

Power the tip on, turn your phone's Bluetooth on, and keep the tip within a few feet. Don't pair or connect to "StabiliTrack-XXXX" in your phone's own Bluetooth settings — leave it alone there. The app connects to it directly. Tap Continue.

4

Tap Pair Now. Give it up to 30 seconds. When it's done you'll see "We are now paired" along with your tip's device ID and IP address — that confirms your phone and this specific tip are now locked together. Tap Continue to Setup Wizard.

Older tip firmware: if your tip doesn't support the pairing lock yet, you'll see a note saying so instead of "locked to this phone" — that's fine, WiFi setup below still works exactly the same either way.

Now choose how the tip gets online

The wizard asks: "How should your tip get online?" — these are the real three answers, in the app's own words.

Option A

Tip as WiFi

Best when there's no other WiFi around — remote ranges, fields.

  1. Tap Tip as WiFi.
  2. No network name or password needed — the tip will broadcast its own network. Tap Continue.
  3. Tap Send over Bluetooth, allow Bluetooth if asked, and if a device list shows up pick StabiliTrack-XXXX only.
  4. Wait for the tip to restart — give it about 10 seconds.
  5. On your phone, join "StabiliTrack-XXXX" in your phone's own WiFi settings (XXXX = the last 4 of your tip's ID).
  6. Back in the app, use Connect WiFi as usual.
No router, no hotspot — the tip is its own network.
Option B

Phone as WiFi

Best when you always have your phone with you.

  1. Tap Phone as WiFi.
  2. Turn your phone's hotspot on first.
  3. Enter the hotspot's network name and password exactly as your phone shows them. Tap Continue.
  4. Tap Send over Bluetooth, allow Bluetooth if asked, and pick StabiliTrack-XXXX if a device list appears.
  5. Wait for the confirmation screen — the tip is now joining your phone's hotspot.
Hotspot has to be ON before you tap Continue, not after.
Option C

House/Range as WiFi

Best for a fixed practice space.

  1. Tap House/Range as WiFi.
  2. Enter that location's real WiFi name and password. Tap Continue.
  3. Tap Send over Bluetooth, allow Bluetooth if asked, and pick StabiliTrack-XXXX if a device list appears.
  4. Wait for the confirmation screen — the tip is now joining that router.
Same router every time you shoot there — set it up once.
Switching locations later? Run Setup Wizard again — pairing only needs to happen once per tip, but you can send it a new WiFi target (a different Option A/B/C) any time your location changes.

Everyday connecting, once it's set up

You only run the Setup Wizard once per location. After that:

Moving to a new club or home network? Use Forget WiFi first — the tip restarts back into its own setup network, then run Setup Wizard again for the new location.

Next: build your Draw Lab profile

WiFi gets the tip talking to the app. Draw Lab is what makes its readings mean anything — a personal baseline, not a generic threshold.

1

Open Draw Lab from the Stabili-Track screen.

2

Tap Capture, wait for it to arm, then shoot.

3

Tap Record. Each take captures peak draw, settle, aim, and float.

4

Repeat for a minimum of 3 good takes — Save Profile won't unlock before that.

5

Tap Save Profile. Every correlation view on the Stabili-Track and Metrics pages compares live shots against this same profile.

Then: Bow Level

A quick calibration so the tip's own geometry actually matches how you hold the bow — the prerequisite for honest cant and hold-path readings.

Covered in more depth on the Stabili-Track page — the short version here is just: do it, before you lock anything to the tip.

Last: Lock to Tip Device

Once your Draw Lab profile is saved and the tip is connected, one more tap stores that profile on the hardware itself.

1

With a completed Draw Lab profile and the tip connected, tap Lock to Tip Device.

2

This is what un-greys the live strip on the scorecard — Start Recording and scorecard Activate are both blocked until this step is done.

You're ready to score. Open a scorecard, activate Stabili-Track, and shoot.

Troubleshooting

Reset the tip's Bluetooth pairing

Your tip permanently bonds to the first phone it pairs with — that's on purpose, so nobody else's phone can connect to it. If you're switching to a new phone, or a friend's app briefly tried to pair with it, reset the bond here first.

How the tip-lock actually works

The first phone that connects to your tip over Bluetooth becomes its owner. From that moment on, the tip will not accept a Bluetooth connection from any other phone or tablet — not a friend's phone at the range, not someone standing nearby with the same app installed, nobody. If another device tries, the tip refuses it and stays locked to you.

We built it this way on purpose, after exactly the failure it prevents: a tip lost connection mid-session, and the app offered to connect to a different, nearby tip instead. That's not something we want happening by accident — your tip's calibration and hold data are yours, and we don't want it drifting onto someone else's phone, or someone else's tip drifting onto yours, just because you're both shooting at the same range.

The lock lives entirely in the tip's own hardware, not in the app or in any account — there's no login, no cloud record of who owns which tip. That's also why the only way to reset it is physical: plugging the tip in over USB. A stranger can't reset your tip's pairing over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, because those channels are deliberately not allowed to touch the lock at all — only a direct USB connection can, on the reasoning that if you have the physical tip in your hands and a cable, it's yours to reset.

Getting a new phone, or handing the tip off to someone else, doesn't require anything from your old phone — the reset works from the tip's side alone. Use the tool below (or the same reset from the app, on Android, over USB) any time you need to re-pair it to a different phone.

Works in Chrome or Edge on a computer, with the tip plugged in over USB. It does not work in Safari, Firefox, or in a mobile browser — those browsers don't support direct USB access from a webpage. If that's you, use the app's own USB reset instead (Android only), or use a computer.
1

Plug the tip into this computer with a USB cable.

2

Click Connect Tip below and pick the tip from the browser's device list.

3

Click Reset Bond. The tip is now unpaired and ready for a new phone to claim it.
